About Banjar
Banjar (Sundanese: ᮘᮔ᮪ᮏᮁ), is a city located in the east of West Java, Indonesia, on the border between West Java and Central Java. It was originally administered as part of Ciamis Regency, which surrounds it (except on the northeast side, where there is a common boundary with Central Java province, along the Tanduy River), but was split off to become an independent city on 11 December 2002.
Banjar is an independent city (Kota) in West Java province, bordering Central Java to the east. The city has a population of about 175,000, and is the second-largest city in the East Parahyangan mountain region after Tasikmalaya.

Getting in
Banjar is on the main Southern Java Route between Bandung and Yogyakarta. To get to Banjar from Bandung, you will need to take the road over the Nagreg mountain pass. The journey takes about 3.5 to 4 hours if traffic conditions are good. However, serious traffic congestion is common on the mountain pass road. There is also a road into Banjar from the south coast (Pangandaran). Banjar railway station is in the centre of the city. The station is served by 6 economy class trains per day to Bandung (Kiaracondong station), of which two continue to Jakarta.
