Baqubah (Arabic: بَعْقُوبَة; BGN: Ba‘qūbah; also spelled Baquba and Baqouba) is the capital of the Diyala Governorate of Iraq. The city is located some 50 km (31 mi) to the northeast of Baghdad, on the Diyala River.
