About
About Cabanatuan
Cabanatuan, officially the City of Cabanatuan (Filipino: Lungsod ng Cabanatuan; Ilocano: Siudad ti Cabanatuan; Kapampangan: Lakanbalen/Ciudad ning Cabanatuan), is a component city in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
It was the capital of the Philippines after Manila fell to the Americans, and during World War II, the city, then a rural municipality, was the site of one of the largest military operations on the Pacific theater. Cabanatuan serves as the economic center of Nueva Ecija, and was a major stopover to Cagayan Valley until it was bypassed by the longer bug less congested Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway. The city once formed a barrio of the then-municipality of Gapan during the Spanish colonial period.
