About Faridpur
Faridpur is a city located in southern Bangladesh. It is the largest municipality in Dhaka Division in the city proper.
Around the 16th century, Faridpur was known by the name of Fatehabad. Sultan Jalaluddin Muhammad Shah established a mint in Fatehabad during his reign in the early 15th century. In Ain-i-Akbari time it was named as Haweli Mahal Fatehabad. In the 19th century, this town was renamed as Faridpur in honour of the Sufi Saint Shah Fariduddin Masud. The Faridpur district was established by the British in 1815.

Faridpur is a junction point of transportation in South Bangladesh. At first you should go to the Kamlapur railway station, Dhaka. Then you can buy a ticket for Dhaka to Rajshahi train. And at least you can come to Faridpur from Rajshahi by Madhumati Express train.
