Hail (Arabic: حائل, Ḥāʾil) is a city in north-western Saudi Arabia, located between the Shammar Mountains of Aja and Salma. It is the seat and largest city of Hail Province.
Historically it was a stop on the camel caravan routes and the Hajj pilgrimage path from Iraq. It has a population of 500,000. Ha'il is at a higher elevation (approx. 1,000 m) than Riyadh or Jeddah, making its climate slightly more temperate.
