About
About Hechi
Hechi (Chinese: 河池) is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China, bordering Guizhou to the north. In June 2002 it gained city status.
Hechi City has a long history. Humans settled here as early as the Neolithic Age. It belongs to the birthplace of ancient Baiyue culture. Since the establishment of counties in the Han Dynasty, Hechi has gradually developed into an important political, economic and cultural center in northwestern Guangxi. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Hechi became the intersection of commerce and trade. In modern times, Hechi was of strategic significance in the Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War.
