About
About Hirakata
Hirakata (枚方市, Hirakata-shi) is a city in northeastern Osaka Prefecture, Japan. As of 31 December 2021, the city had an estimated population of 397,681 in 183075 households and a population density of 6100 persons per km2.
A commuter town of some 400,000 people, Hirakata has few tourist attractions as such. However, being located at the halfway point between Osaka and Kyoto, about 30 min away from each on the Keihan Main Line, it's a convenient base for travel to each. The local Culture and Tourism Association has a Japanese-only guide site.

Comfortable means average daytime high between 18 °C and 29 °C and under 80 mm of rain in the month. Getting there
Getting to Hirakata: airports and arrival
The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Osaka Itami International Airport (ITM), about 20 km from the city centre in a straight line; Kobe Airport (UKB, 44 km) and Kansai International Airport (KIX, 57 km) are also within reach.
Getting in
The Keihan Main Line between Osaka (Yodoyabashi, Kyobashi; up to 29 min, ¥350) and eastern Kyoto (Demachiyanagi, Sanjo, Gion-Shijo; up to 30 min, ¥370) passes through Hirakata. Services are frequent, with a train every 6 minutes or so, virtually all of which stop at the main Hirakatashi (枚方市駅) station. Alas, the Keihan Main Line is not particularly convenient if you're coming from farther away. From Kansai International Airport, take the Nankai line to Namba, transfer to the Midosuji subway line to Yodoyabashi and board the Keihan there.
Getting around
Hirakata has a ¥100 Bus that travels from Hirakata Station to other destinations within the city.
