About

About Huzhou

Huzhou (Chinese: 湖州; pinyin: Húzhōu,; Huzhou dialect: ghou² cieu¹) is a prefecture-level city in northern Zhejiang province (Hangzhou–Jiaxing–Huzhou Plain, China). Lying south of Lake Tai, it borders Jiaxing to the east, Hangzhou to the south, and the provinces of Anhui and Jiangsu to the west and north respectively.

Huzhou is located in Zhejiang Province, China, and is the central city of the Yangtze River Delta. It faces Wuxi and Suzhou in Jiangsu Province across the lake. Huzhou is an ancient city south of the Yangtze River with a history of more than 2,000 years. It is known as the "Land of Fish and Rice" and "The House of Silk". It is relatively close to Suzhou and Hangzhou, the two heavens on earth that everyone longed for in ancient times, and is close to the ocean. It is located on the south bank of Lake Tai (Taihu in Chinese) and has been nurtured by the lake for generations.
