About Jiaozuo
Jiaozuo is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of Henan province, China. Sitting on the northern bank of the Yellow River, it borders the provincial capital of Zhengzhou to the south, Xinxiang to the east, Jiyuan to the west, Luoyang to the southwest, and the province of Shanxi to the north.
Jiaozuo enjoys a climate of distinct seasons, characterized by its annual average temperature of around 14°C and precipitation of 600-700 mm. This translates to hot, rainy summers and cold, relatively dry winters—best classified as a warm temperate continental monsoon climate. Jiaozuo has a long and storied history, known in ancient times as "Shanyang(山阳)" As one of the core areas of early Chinese civilization, it is the proud hometown of illustrious figures such as the master strategist Sima Yi and the literary giants Han Yu and Li Shangyin.
