About
About Lubao
Lubao is one of the oldest municipalities in Pampanga, having been established in the 1570s. A lowland town along the extensive delta of the Pampanga River, its name is derived from the Kapampangan term lubo which means low or sunken. The town was also devastated by lahar flows following the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991, but has since mostly recovered.

Getting in
From Manila, take the San Fernando exit along the North Luzon Expressway leading to the Gapan-Olongapo Road, also known as Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA). From San Fernando, head west and follow the signs leading to Olongapo, passing through Bacolor and Guagua before reaching Lubao. An alternate route to avoid heavy traffic along JASA is through the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), which has exits in the neighboring towns of Floridablanca and Dinalupihan in Bataan. Lubao is connected to Sasmuan through a road built over a dike. There is also a secondary road leading to Floridablanca.
Getting around
Tricycles are the main form of transportation between barangays, especially as Jose Abad Santos Avenue bypasses downtown Lubao.
