About Obuasi

Obuasi is the capital of Obuasi Municipal District. The town is one of Ghana's best-known mining centres and has a long history associated with gold mining. Obuasi developed around one of the country's richest gold deposits. Gold mining has played a major role in the growth of the town and continues to influence its economy, employment and surrounding communities. The town is surrounded by a tropical landscape of forests, farms and small settlements. Agriculture is also practised in the surrounding area, with crops such as plantain, cassava, cocoa and vegetables being cultivated.

Do

The town has a world class golf course which was originally the stomping ground of a few privileged ex-pats. The golf course has its own unique character, with obstacles such as goats and locals doing their weekly washing in the creek that runs through the course.
