About Osasco
Osasco is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil, located in the Greater São Paulo area and ranking fifth in population among São Paulo municipalities. According to the IBGE 2015, Osasco currently has the ninth highest gross domestic product in Brazil, and the second largest in the state of São Paulo.
For a city with more than 650,000 inhabitants, the history of Osasco is quite recent. It emerged around the train station with the same name, constructed in 1895 and to this day the main train station of the city. Osasco was officially founded in 1962, when it was emancipated from São Paulo. In the second half of the 20th century, Osasco grew enormously with industrialization and the expansion of the urban area of São Paulo beyond the municipality limits.
