About Tangail

Tangail is a city of Tangail District in central Bangladesh. The establishment of the Tangail began with 3269 square kilometres of land requisitioned from Mymensingh.

Tangail has about 185,000 residents (2015). Tangail is the home of the weavers and internationally known for “Tangail Saree” a handloom saree made of both cotton and silk. This saree is widely used by women and girls of Bangladeshi and Indian origin living all over the world. Madhupur has forests and hilly areas. A lot of pineapples, bananas and jackfruits are planted in Modhupur gor.
