About
About Aschheim
Aschheim is a small town and municipality in the district of Munich in Bavaria in Germany. It lies beyond the northeastern outskirts of Munich.
Aschheim has approximately 10,000 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of about 512 meters above sea level. Archaeological finds prove that the area was inhabited as early as the Neolithic period. In the south of the municipal area, excavations also uncovered several Roman farmsteads (villae rusticae) from the 1st century AD, including one with its own underfloor heating and bathroom. In the early Middle Ages, Aschheim was an important center: in 756–757, the first Bavarian provincial synod took place here, and its resolutions also provide the oldest written mention of the place name.
