About
About Gimpo
Gimpo (Korean: 김포; Korean pronunciation: [kim.pʰo]) is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It borders Incheon, with which it shares the South Korean side of the Han River estuary, as well as Seoul and the lesser cities of Paju and Goyang.
Gimpo sits between the Han River and the Yellow Sea (locally called West Sea). It boasts a rich history, cultural heritage, and vast plains. Today, Gimpo is characterized by a unique contrast, where the rapidly developing Hangang New Town (featuring modern landmarks like Laveniche) coexists with the traditional downtown areas and extensive agricultural plains, which famously produce the high-quality Gimpo Geumsal rice.
