About

About Luoyang

Luoyang (simplified Chinese: 洛阳; traditional Chinese: 洛陽; pinyin: Luòyáng) is a city located in the confluence area of the Luo River and the Yellow River in the west of Henan province, China.

As one of China's most significant historical centers, Luoyang was the capital for 9 ruling dynasties, including the Eastern Han Dynasty and Wei during the Three Kingdoms era. It served as the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and a critical junction for the three ancient canals forming the Grand Canal. Today, Luoyang remains a vivid reminder of Chinese civilization's heartland, boasting five major capital ruins, each with its own historical significance. As of 2022, the city has a population exceeding 7 million, with 2.25 million residing in the urban area.
