About Xianyang

Xianyang (Chinese: 咸阳; pinyin: Xiányáng) is a prefecture-level city in central Shaanxi province, situated on the Wei River a few kilometers upstream (west) from the provincial capital of Xi'an. The old Xianyang city was once the capital of the Qin dynasty and thus the first imperial capital of China.

Getting there

Getting to Xianyang: airports and arrival

The nearest airport with scheduled flights is Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY), about 13 km from the city centre in a straight line.

Getting around

The metro lines mentioned in the Get-in section may also be used to get around the city. There is, however, no direct line linking the western part of the city with the eastern part, so if you wanted to travel from Qindu District to the eastern part of Weicheng District by metro train, you would need to go into Xi’an first and change trains two times. Obviously, it would be somewhat easier in that case to catch a mainline train from Xianyang to Xi’an North Station, then get a metro train from there. Of course, public buses are also available.
