How to choose
How do you choose an accessible hotel?
Accessible rooms differ more than the word suggests: step-free access, a roll-in shower, grab rails, a lowered bed or a hearing loop are separate features. The places listed here state that they have accessible rooms; what exactly that includes is the operator's to confirm.
What to check before you book
- Ask for the specific features you need — roll-in shower, door widths, bed height — not just "accessible".
- Check the route from the entrance and the lift to the room, not only the room.
- Book the accessible room type itself; a standard room cannot be swapped on arrival.
- Ask about parking close to the entrance and accessible public transport nearby.
