About
About Anseong
Anseong is best known as a center of traditional Korean performing arts, particularly Namsadang nori, a form of itinerant folk performance that once traveled the country. The city hosts the annual Anseong Baudeogi Festival, named after Baudeogi, remembered as Korea’s first female clown and a symbol of the free-spirited performers who once gathered here. During the festival season, Anseong briefly transforms from a quiet provincial city into a lively stage for traditional music, dance, and street performances.
