Yongin is a city in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, the largest in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. With a population over 1 million, the city has developed rapidly since the 21st century, recording the highest population growth of any city in the country.
Although it is outside of the capital Seoul, it is often regarded as a suburb and is reachable on the Seoul metro network. During the Three Kingdoms Period, it was the land of Baekje (BC18-AD660) during the founding of Baekje, and during the heyday of Goguryeo (BC37-AD668), it was the land of Goguryeo. Later, Shilla (BC57-AD936) unified the three countries and became the land of Shilla.
